Coopers TownCoopers Town is the 3rd largest city in the Bahamas, and capital of Great Abaco Island, the 2nd largest island in the archipelago. Coopers Town has a population of about 7,200. The city takes its name from the Cooper family, who came from Grand Bahama, and founded the settlement in the 1870s. Early industries in the area included sponge-harvesting and pineapple farming, but the growth of both industries was severely limited by the lack of a natural harbor. |
